Caledonia Street Fair

Yesterday was the Caledonia Street Fair in Sausalito, and to celebrate we had some friends over for a party! It was the first time Julia and I had been able to get together with everyone since we got engaged, and we all had a great time drinking homemade mint juleps and beer, listening to the bands on the street, making slow-cooked rotissere barbeque chicken sandwiches, and people watching from our balcony.

Mike and I each broke out seersucker for the occasion. Here he enjoys his mint julep while thinking about next year’s Kentucky Derby.

Eventually the group made our way down the hill to the street fair.

One booth had a dozen or so hula hoops out. Rich and I each gave it a whirl.

A photo says a thousand words, but this one says just one word: AWESOME.

Another vendor was selling coconut cocktails. Julia and I got one and posed on the street with our apartment in the background.

We ended up at Smitty’s, where they had some outdoor tables set up in the sun.

Mike looking like he belongs in some kind of catalog for seersucker jackets.

After the sun set we walked down to the waterfront and enjoyed fireworks for the 75th anniversary celebration of the Golden Gate Bridge. Although we weren’t able to see the bridge from our vantage point, watching the fireworks explode above the headland and over the water was still pretty spectacular.

Here’s a video the local CBS affiliate put together showing the view from Chrissy Field. The action begins at about 1min 20sec into the clip. The Golden Gate Bridge was shut down for a couple hours for the festivities.

We had a great day with our friends. Thanks to everyone who made it out!

  1. Quite the dapper affair!

After seeing how rad you and Rich look while getting your hoop on, I’m thinking of joining hoopnotica.com. Might even team up with the best hooper on Kauai 😉

  2. That street fair looks awesome! No jello shots out of a frying pan, though? …way to be a grown-up…
